What happens when we first start working together?

When we first start working, I will be curious to hear your many stories and experiences. Together as we unpack what brings you into therapy and what you want to achieve, we will discuss what works for you. Although I bring knowledge and skills, I know that you are the expert of your life and know yourself best. My role is to create a framework and process that enables you to accomplish your goals.

Is therapy confidential?

Confidentiality is central to therapy and creating a strong relationship of trust. For this reason, all therapists are legally and ethically bound to keep their sessions confidential and not share with anyone else what was talked about. However, there are some exceptions to this rule. For example, if your therapist has reason to believe that you are a danger to yourself or others, then they must break that confidence in order to make sure that you (or others) are safe from harm. There may also be times when you (or your therapist) would like your therapist to consult with someone else about your treatment, such as your family doctor or psychiatrist. Your therapist must get your consent for you to release personal health information about you to any other member of your health care alliance.

How long are sessions? How often should we meet? How many sessions do I need?

Sessions are 50 minutes long and typically occur once per week, although depending on your situation, they may be more or less frequent.

Meeting Weekly helps to develop a strong therapeutic relationship and establish momentum towards your accomplishing your goals.

I provide both long term and short term therapy. How long you attend depends on many factors that we can discuss in the first couple of sessions. Ultimately, though it will be up to you and the needs that you have.

How much does it cost?

My fee’s are currently $150 Plus HST for individual therapy. Unfortunately sessions are not covered by provincial healthcare however Many insurance plans now cover psychotherapy and you can inquire with your insurance company as to what kinds of psychotherapy services they cover.

I provide a free 15 minute consultation to determine if we are a good match.
